This writ petition has been filed interalia for the following relief:- "A) Issue an appropriate writ order or direction in the nature of mandamus directing the respondent no. 2, to consider and decide the application/file no. 478/Ayudh Lipik/2021 dated 09.02.2021 in respect of grant of fire arm license (D.B.B.L. Gun) pending before him, within stipulated period. B) ...." It has been stated by the learned counsel for the petitioner that the petitioner is residing in rural area and required DBBL Gun for his safety, security and in succession of his father. On account of which he had moved an application before the authorities but no decision has been taken as on date. The learned Standing Counsel has no objection to the submission made by the counsel for the petitioner. No useful purpose would be served by keeping this petition pending in view of the order, which the Court proposes to pass hereunder. Without entering into the controversy involved in the writ petition, the writ petition is disposed of with a direction to respondent no. 2 to decide the aforesaid application in accordance with law, as expeditiously as possible, without granting any unnecessary or long adjournments to either of the parties, if there is no other legal impediment. It is made clear that this Court has not examined the merits of the claim of the petitioner and the authority concerned shall apply its own mind strictly in accordance with law.
