¶1The wife of the petitioner was working as Shiksha Mitra with the Government of Uttar Pradesh and was posted for election duties during the Panchayat Election, 2021 held in Uttar Pradesh in April, 2021. During her duties in the election, the wife of the petitioner was infected with Covid-19 and subsequently, died on 28.05.2021. The petitioner filed an application before the District Magistrate, Jaunpur for award of compensation for the death of his wife. No decision has been taken by the District Magistrate on the said representation filed by the petitioner.

¶2It would serve no useful purpose to keep the petition pending and considering the pleadings in the petition and the circumstances of the case, the petition is disposed of with the direction to the respondent no. 4, District Magistrate, Jaunpur that in case the petitioner files a fresh representation before the District Magistrate, Jaunpur within one month from today, the same shall be decided by him within a period of three months from the date of filing of such representation and appropriate action in accordance with law shall be taken depending upon the decision of the District Magistrate, Jaunpur within next period of one month.
