Instructions have been obtained by learned Standing Counsel according to which caste certificate being sent for verification to District Level Caste Scrutiny Committee has cancelled the caste certificate vide decision taken on 11.10.2023. Since now the caste certificate issued by the Tehsildar, Varanasi has been cancelled by the District Level Caste Scrutiny Committee, no relief can be granted to the petitioner for reservation in OBC category in the selection in question. Petitioner has a remedy to approach the District Appellate Committee against the caste certificate, if so advised. Petition lacks merit and is accordingly dismissed. However, it is made clear that dismissal of this petition will not have any effect if the appeal before the Regional Level Committee is allowed.
