¶1The grievance of the petitioner in the present petition is that no decision has been taken by the District Magistrate, District-Mirzapur on the application of the petitioner to be declared as fighter of democracy as defined in the Uttar Pradesh Fighters of Democracy Honour Act, 2016 (hereinafter referred to as the 'Act 2016') and to be given the privileges and facilities to which such fighters of democracy are entitled to under the Act 2016.

¶2Without expressing any opinion on the merits of the case, the writ petition is disposed of with a direction to the respondent no. 2, District Magistrate, District-Mirzapur, to decide the representation of the petitioner strictly in accordance with law, as expeditiously as possible, preferably within a period of one month from the date of communication of this order, if there is no legal impediment.
