¶1Heard learned counsel for petitioner as well as learned Standing Counsel for respondents.

¶2By means of present writ petition, the petitioner has sought a direction to the District Magistrate, Lucknow to consider the application of the petitioner for grant of arms license.

¶3It has been submitted that the petitioner is a sportsman and also a member of the National Rifle Association of India and also participating in various tournaments and shooting competitions of District, Zonal and National level and for the said purpose he had moved an application under Section 13 of the Arms Act to the District magistrate in the month of May, 2022. The grievance raised by the petitioner in the present writ petition is that till date the said application is pending and the respondents have not considered or decided the said application for grant of arms licence.

¶4After arguing at some length, learned counsel for petitioner submits that the grievance of the petitioner shall be substantially redressed in case respondent No. 2 is directed to consider the representation of the petitioner for grant of arms license expeditiously.

¶5Learned Standing Counsel does not object if a direction is issued to respondent No. 2 for expeditious disposal of the representation preferred by the petitioner.

¶6Accordingly, without entering into the merits of the case, the writ petition is disposed of with a direction to the respondent No. 2/District Magistrate, Lucknow to decide the representation of the petitioner bearing File No. 72/2022 (Annexure No. 4 to the writ petition) expeditiously, say, within a period of six weeks from the date a copy of this order is produced before him and communicate the decision to the petitioner.
