By means of the present writ petition the petitioner has prayed for a direction to the District Magistrate, Lucknow to consider and decide the representation of the petitioner dated 21.7.2023 given for grant of arms licence which is pending consideration with the respondent no.2. It has been submitted by the learned counsel for the petitioner that the petitioner is a practicing lawyer and that he had preferred an application for grant of arms licence on

15.10.2018 and completed all the formalities in this regard but till date no decision has been taken by the respondent no.2 on the said application. In light of the above, specially considering the fact that the application is pending for the last five years which is unreasonably long time and, accordingly, respondent no.2 is directed to consider and decide the representation of the petitioner dated 21.7.2023 for grant of arms licence expeditiously, say within six weeks' from the date a certified copy of this order is produced before him, in accordance with law.
