B.G. PURA HOBLI, MALAVALLI TALUK, MANDYA DISTRICT AS PER THE RECOMMENDATION OF THE REVENUE INSPECTOR DATED 08.10.2025 (ANNEXURE-B) BY CONSIDERING THE REPRESENTATION OF THE PETITIONER DATED 03.09.2025 ADDRESSED TO THE 2ND RESPONDENT MARKED AT ANNEXURE-D TO THE WRIT PETITION.

THIS PETITION, COMING ON FOR PRELIMINARY HEARING, THIS DAY, ORDER WAS MADE THEREIN AS UNDER: CORAM: HON'BLE MR. JUSTICE R DEVDAS

ORAL ORDER It is the contention of the petitioner that the petitioner's father late Sri Madhegowda @ Sannegowda was granted 10 acres of land in Survey No.76 of Dabbahalli Village, B.G.Pura Hodli, Malavalli Taluk in the year 1942. The provisional saguvali chit was issued on

30.06.1942 and permanent saguvali chit was issued in the year 1953-1954. It is contented that the name of the petitioner's father was entered in the revenue records. However, the name of the petitioner's father is discontinued from the revenue records pursuant to computerization and digitization. The prayer in the petition is to issue a writ of mandamus directing the respondent – Tahsildar, Malavalli Taluk, to consider the representations

given by the petitioner and enter the name of the petitioner in the revenue records in terms of the report submitted by the revenue inspector at Annexure-E.

¶2After hearing the learned counsel for the petitioner, the learned High Court Government Pleader and on perusing the petition papers, this Court finds from the material on record that the name of the petitioner's father was earlier entered in the land revenue records. However, if the Tahsildar is of the opinion that the petitioner's father has not been granted lands, nevertheless, it is the duty of the Tahsildar to secure the original grant records, Saguvali Chit issue register and other contemporaneous records to satisfy himself regarding the grant made in favour of the petitioner's father. Moreover, there is no reason why the name of the petitioner's father which was earlier entered in the land revenue records has not been continued after computerization, the Tahsildar is duty bound to look into all these aspects and pass necessary orders.

¶3Consequently, this writ petition stands disposed of with a specific direction to the 2nd respondent -Tahsildar to consider the representations given by the petitioner and in the light of the observations made hereinabove, verify the original records and pass necessary orders to enter the name of the petitioner's father in the land revenue records as expeditiously as possible and at any rate within a period of two months from the date of receipt of copy of this order.
