¶1This hearing has been done through hybrid mode. CRL.M.A. 25813/2026
¶2Allowed subject to all just exceptions. The application stands disposed of. CRL.M.C. 6180/2026
¶3By way of the present petition, the petitioner is seeking quashing of FIR No. 0183/2026, registered at Police Station Jaitpur, Delhi, for the offences punishable under Sections 115(2)/126(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023 (hereinafter referred to as the 'BNS') and all consequential proceedings emanating therefrom, on the basis of the settlement arrived at between the parties.
¶4Issue notice. The learned APP accepts notice on behalf of the State. The authenticity of the order can be re-verified from Delhi High Court Order Portal by scanning the QR code shown above.
¶5The petitioner and respondent no. 3 are present before this Court and have been duly identified by the Investigating Officer.
¶6Briefly stated, the petitioner is the mother-in-law of respondent no. 3. A quarrel took place between them at their residence at Prince Colony, Hari Nagar Part-3, Jaitpur, Delhi, pursuant to which the present FIR came to be registered at the instance of respondent no. 3. The MLC of respondent no. 3 recorded a lacerated injury on the right side of her forehead.
¶7During the pendency of the proceedings, with the intervention of elders, family members and respectable members of the society, the parties amicably resolved their disputes and executed a Settlement Agreement/Memorandum of Understanding dated 21.05.2026. In terms thereof, respondent no. 3 has agreed not to pursue the proceedings arising out of the present FIR and to cooperate with the petitioner in quashing thereof.
¶8On a query made by this Court, respondent no. 3, who has been duly identified by the Investigating Officer, states that she has entered into the aforesaid settlement out of her own free will and without any pressure, coercion or threat and has no objection if the present FIR and the proceedings emanating therefrom are quashed.
¶9In view of the above, considering that the parties are closely related and have amicably resolved their disputes out of their own free will and without any coercion, no useful purpose would be served by continuing with the criminal proceedings, which would rather perpetuate acrimony between the parties. It would, therefore, be in the interest of justice to put a quietus to the dispute. This Court finds no legal impediment in quashing the FIR in question.
¶10Accordingly, FIR No. 0183/2026, registered at Police Station Jaitpur, Delhi, for the offences punishable under Sections 115(2)/126(2) of the BNS The authenticity of the order can be re-verified from Delhi High Court Order Portal by scanning the QR code shown above. and all consequential proceedings emanating therefrom, is hereby quashed.
¶11The present petition is accordingly disposed of.
¶12Pending application(s), if any, also stand disposed of.
¶13Copy of this order be sent to the learned Trial Court for information and necessary compliance.
¶14The order be uploaded on the website forthwith. MADHU JAIN, J AUGUST 21, 2026/ys/Av The authenticity of the order can be re-verified from Delhi High Court Order Portal by scanning the QR code shown above.
