The petitioner has preferred the instant writ petition with a grievance that her Savings Bank Account no. 467502011027289 with IFSC Code – UBIN0546755 and maintained at Union Bank of India, Nagaon Branch, District – Barpeta was freezed by the respondent authorities. The respondent no. 2 has filed an affidavit-in-opposition wherein it is stated that after causing necessary enquiry, a written request has already been made to the respondent no. 5, that is, the Branch Manager, Union Bank of India, Nagaon Branch, Barpeta District on

19.02.2024 by the Officer In-Charge, Barpeta Police Station [the respondent no. 4] to defreeze the petitioner's said Savings Bank Account. Mr. Biswas, learned counsel for the petitioner has submitted that the petitioner's Savings Bank Account has since been defreezed and as such, there is no live cause of action to proceed with the writ petition. In view of the statements made by the respondent no. 2 in his affidavit-in-opposition that the petitioner's Savings Bank Account has already been defreezed and the submission of Mr. Biswas that the petitioner is currently operating the said Savings Bank Account, the writ petition is closed, as there is no surviving cause of action.
