Heard Mr. S. Khound, learned counsel for the petitioner. Also heard D. Upamanyu, learned Standing Counsel for the respondent Nos. 1, 2 and 3, being the authorities in the Higher Education Department and Mr. U.P. Chaliha, learned counsel for the respondent Nos. 4 and 5.

¶2Mr. Upamanyu, learned Standing Counsel for the respondent Nos. 1, 2 and 3 submits that the grievance of the petitioner has already been addressed and the petition may be closed.

¶3Mr. Khound, learned counsel for the petitioner submits that he has been served with a copy of the affidavit filed by the respondent No. 3 and in the said affidavit, an order dated 17.12.2024, has been enclosed along with a letter dated 17.12.2024, addressed to the Principal, Handique Girls' College, Guwahati and that vide order dated 17.12.2024, the impugned order in this writ petition has been withdrawn and vide letter dated 17.12.2024, the Principal, Handique Girls' College, Guwahati was asked to take a decision regarding the leave period of the petitioner w.e.f. 01.01.2002 to 07.10.2006, as per the judgment and order of this Court dated 06.12.2022, in WP(C) No. 1697/2015. Mr. Khound also submits that as the grievance of the petitioner has already been redressed, this writ petition may be closed.

¶4In view of the submissions of learned counsel for both the parties and in view of the fact that the prayer being made in this petition is already attended to by the respondent authorities, this writ petition stands closed. Page No.# 3/3

¶5However, in respect of the letter dated 17.12.2024, addressed to the Principal, Handique Girls' College, Guwahati by the Director of Higher Education, Assam, it is provided that the Principal/respondent No. 5 shall take a call on the same and furnish the proposal to the Director of Higher Education, Assam within a period of one month from the date of receipt of certified copy of this order. The petitioner shall obtain a certified copy of this order and place the same before the respondent No. 5 within a period of one week from today.

¶6The parties have to bear their own costs.
