¶1Mr. R. Goswami, the learned counsel appearing on behalf of the Petitioner submitted that during the pendency of the instant writ petition, the term of the Zilla Parishad in question is over and as such the question which has been raised in the instant proceedings as regards the reservation of women in terms with Section 70.A of the Assam Panchayat Act, 1994 does not survive. He however submitted that the instant writ petition be closed as infructuous however keeping the question involved in the instant proceedings open.

¶2Taking into account the above submission, the instant writ petition stands closed as it has become infructuous. However, the question which was raised as regards the application of Section 70.A of the Act of 1994 insofar as reservation of women is kept open.
