Heard Mr. A. Sarma, learned counsel for the petitioner. Also heard Mr. R. Dhar, learned standing counsel, PWD for all the respondents.

¶2The petitioner joined the Office of the Chief Engineer, PWD (Roads) as a Junior Engineer (Mechanical) on 05.03.2008. The petitioner also completed her Section-A examination. By way of this present Writ Petition, petitioner is claiming for promotion to the post of Assistant Engineer in terms of the Assam Engineering (PWD) Services, Rules 1978.

¶3Mr. R. Dhar, learned standing counsel, PWD has produced a Page No.# 3/3 communication dated 21.02.2024, written by the Under Secretary to the Government of Assam, Esst-B Branch (Confidential Cell) PWRD, wherein, it is stated that necessary steps is being taken for initiation of promotion in respect of the petitioner subject to approval/views/ concurrence from the concerned referral departments. He therefore submits that as the case of the petitioner is under consideration, the matter may be closed by giving a time frame to the respondent to complete the process.

¶4Recording the submissions made by the learned standing counsel, PWD, this writ petition is disposed of directing the concerned respondents to consider the promotion of the petitioner at the earliest but not later than 2(two) months from the date of receipt of a copy of the order of this Court.

¶5With the above observations and directions, this writ petition is disposed of. The communication dated 21.02.2024 is placed on record.
