¶1Heard Ms. S. Sut, learned counsel appearing on behalf of Ms. T. Som. Also heard Mr. S. Bora, learned counsel appearing for the BTC.

¶2By filing this writ petition, the petitioner is seeking a direction to allow the opening of the Cattle Market at Bhaoraguri. The petitioner contends that despite the representation being submitted on 16.05.2024 to the District Commissioner, Kokrajhar, the same has not been decided till date. Accordingly, the prayer of the petitioner is for issuing a direction to the District Commissioner, Kokrajhar, for taking a decision on the petitioner's representation dated 16.05.2024.
¶3Mr. S. Bora, learned counsel for the BTC, on the other hand submits that the Government of Assam has prohibited the operation of any kind of cattle market in Assam, in terms of the Assam Cattle Prevention Act, 2021 which was assented to by the Governor of Assam on 09.09.2021.
¶4I have heard the learned counsels for the parties.
¶5As the prayer of the petitioner pertains to a direction to be issued to the respondent no.2, to take a decision on the petitioner's representation, I direct the respondent no.2 to take a decision on the petitioner's representation dated
16.05.2024, within a period of 1 month from the date of receipt of a certified copy of this order.
¶6The writ petition accordingly disposed of.
