25.01.2024 Heard Mr. Chetri, learned counsel on behalf of Mr. PD Nair, learned counsel for the petitioners. Also heard Mr. SMT Chistie, learned counsel representing the respondents. A direction was issued to the respondent authorities to grant benefits of deficit system of grant in aid to the petitioner colleges with effect from 01.02.2001 at par with other similarly situated junior colleges, which were brought under the deficit system of grant in aid from the said date. Such direction was issued in WP(C) 1845/2013 under its order dated 14.07.2016. It is submitted at the bar that all those junior colleges have been granted the benefit of deficit system of grant in aid, however, subsequently such system was withdrawn and it was replaced by the Provincialisation Act. According to the learned counsel for the parties, nothing survives in the present case. Accordingly, same stands closed. The petitioners shall still be at liberty to raise its grievance, if occasion arises. JUDGE Comparing Assistant
