None appears for the petitioner on call. Mr. B. Choudhury, learned Standing Counsel for the APDCL is present. The grievance of the petitioner in this writ petition is for appointment as Sahayak/Meter Reader on regular basis on the basis of his experience, as he has been engaged as Sahayak/Meter Reader, on casual basis since 1994. The respondent authorities, by filing their affidavit have clearly stated that the post of Sahayak/Meter Reader is filled up by way of direct recruitment as per rules. The authorities have advertised the post(s) from time to time in terms of the recruitment rules, wherein, the petitioner has appeared and has failed to qualify in the selection process. Therefore, he could Page No.# 3/3 not be appointed. It is also stated that there is no provision for regularization in the recruitment rule. The only method of recruitment is by way of direct recruitment. The writ petition has been filed in the year, 2016, and when the matter is called on today, none represented the petitioner. Having considered that the petitioner would not have any right to claim for regular appointment in terms of the recruitment rules by way of regularization as the post of Sahayak/Meter reader can be filled up only by way of direct recruitment, coupled with the non-representation, it appears that the petitioner may not be interested to pursue this matter.
