Judgment

ORDER Date : 20.06.2024

None appears for the petitioner, even on second call.

Mr. P. Saikia, learned Government Advocate, Assam, by referring to the affidavits filed in the matter, has submitted that the circulars issued by the Government of Assam, relating to release of ex-gratia compensation would not cover the death occasioning the petitioner's husband in-as-much as the said death of the husband of the petitioner had so occasioned in the State of Chattisgarh and from the materials brought on record, it is seen that the Government of Chattisgarh had already released ex-gratia compensation amount as due and the Central Government have also released the ex-gratia compensation to the petitioner, herein, basing on the policies governing the matter.

However, as none has appeared for the petitioner, the issue arising, is not considered on merits and the present writ petition stands dismissed for non-prosecution.
