11.03.2024 The grievance of the petitioner is non-consideration of a proposal submitted by the Deputy Commissioner, Dhubri for settlement of 17.50 Lechas of land pertaining to Dag No. 771 (part) of revenue village Anandanagar under Bilasipara revenue circle of Dhubri district in favour of the petitioner. Ms. PR Mahanta, learned standing counsel for the revenue department in terms of this Court's earlier order dated 29.01.2024 has produced a communication issued by Joint Secretary to the Government of Assam, Revenue and Disaster Management (S&S) Department dated 16.02.2024 addressed to the Deputy Commissioner, Dhubri district, which is a final decision of the Governor of Assam to accord approval for the settlement of land in question in favour of the petitioner, Saman Ali Sheikh subject to realization of settlement premium as per Govt. Notification dated 21.08.2023. In view of aforesaid, the learned counsel for the petitioner submits that no cause of action survives to be adjudicated in the writ petition.
