Judgment

ORDER This Writ Petition has been filed seeking a direction to the respondent to pay the petitioners interest for the belated payment of PF, gratuity and earned leave salary at the rate of 12% per annum within a specified time as fixed by this Court.

¶2It is the case of the petitioners that they joined the service of the respondent Corporation and retired from service during the years 2023 & 2024 respectively. However, the terminal benefits namely, PF, gratuity and earned leave salary, were settled to the petitioners only on 30.10.2024,

10.03.2025 & 25.08.2025 respectively. Therefore, the petitioners claimed 12% interest on the belated settlement of retirement benefits as stated supra and they have also made a representation on different dates during 2025 to pay interest for the belated settlement of retirement benefits which have not evoked any response so far. Hence, the present Writ Petition.

¶3Heard the learned counsels appearing on either side and perused the materials available on record. With the consent of both sides, the Writ Petition is taken up for hearing at the admission stage itself.

¶4In view of the limited request made by the petitioners with regard to interest on the belated settlement of retirement benefits, this Court directs the respondents to pay interest at the rate of 6% p.a. for the belated payment of retirement benefits as stated supra from the date of retirement till the date of actual disbursal of the retirement benefits of the petitioners, if there is no impediment in disbursing the same, within a period of six weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order, taking into account the bank rate of interest on deposits.

¶5Accordingly, this Writ Petition is disposed of. There shall be no order as to costs.

¶6WMP.No.4078 of 2026 filed by the petitioners to permit them to join together and file a Single Writ Petition is allowed on payment of single Court fee.
