ORDER This Writ Petition has been filed seeking to declare that the petitioner is eligible for 2 Star - equivalent to/ indicative of 8 marks for the Rope Climbing event which was held on 29.01.2026 under the Physical Efficiency Test pursuant to the recruitment notification No.02/2025 dated 21.08.2025 for appointment to the post of Police Constable Grade -II.

¶2Heard Ms.Kavitha Rameshwar, learned counsel for the petitioner and Mr.P.Kumaresan, learned Additional Advocate General appearing on behalf of the respondents. With the consent of both the parties, the Writ Petition is taken up for hearing at the admission stage itself.

¶3The short facts of the case is as follows:

3.1. The petitioner, who belongs to MBC category applied for the post of Police Constable Grade II in the recruitment notification dated 21.08.2025 issued by the respondent Board. The respondent Board conducted the written examination and published the selected list of candidates for certificate verification, Physical Measurement Test [PMT], Eligibility Test [ET] and Page3 of 5 Physical Eligibility Test [PET]. The petitioner participated in the certificate verification process, PMT and ET which was followed PET, wherein three events were conducted such as rope climbing, long/high jump and running. In the event of rope climbing, 2 stars will be awarded for climbing 6 metres which is equivalent to 8 indicative marks. In the said event, all other candidates have been awarded either one star to two star before they got down, however, the respondents did not award any star to the petitioner till he got down and thereafter, they decided and awarded only one star which paved for losing 4 marks for him. Aggrieved by the action of the respondents, the petitioner has come forward with the present Writ Petition.

¶4The learned counsel for the petitioner submitted that in the PET, the petitioner was not awarded with 2 stars even though he climbed 6 meters in the rope climbing event by the respondents. She further submitted that this Court may call for the video clippings of the event and if it is satisfied and arrive at the conclusion that the petitioner has performed as per the criteria in the rope climbing event, it can award two stars to the petitioner.

¶5Pursuant to the submissions of the learned counsel for the petitioner, the learned Additional Advocate General has produced the video clippings of the PET event and submitted that the petitioner was not able to cross 6 meters and therefore, the respondents has awarded one star. Page4 of 5

¶6Perusal of the video clippings produced by the respondents clearly shows that the petitioner was not able to cross 6 meters in the rope climbing event and therefore, the respondents had rightly awarded one star to him. Hence, the petitioner is not entitled to receive two stars and accordingly, the relief sought for by the petitioner in this Writ Petition, cannot be granted. In view of the same, the Writ Petition stands dismissed. Consequently, connected Miscellaneous Petition is closed. There shall be no order as to costs. 09-02-2026 Index: Yes/No Speaking/Non-speaking order DP To Tamilnadu Uniformed Services Recruitment Board, Rep. by its Chairman, Old Commissioner of Police Office Campus, Pantheon Road, Egmore, Chennai -600 008 Page5 of 5
