Judgment

O R D E R This Writ Petition (Criminal) has been filed to direct the respondents 1 to 5 to identify the persons operating fake social media accounts and online platforms spreading misleading propaganda relating to "Scheduled Exit/delisting" of Devendra Kula Velalar community from Scheduled Caste list and to initiate appropriate criminal action against respondents 6 to 8 and other responsible persons under the relevant provisions of law, including the IPC, Information Technology Act, and the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, based on the petitioner's representation dated 25.02.2026.

¶2The learned counsel for the petitioner submitted that the petitioner claims that he had personally handed over a representation dated 25.02.2026 to the Director General of Police, Mylapore, Chennai. He further claims that he had sent the same through e-mail to the Chief Secretary, Chairman of SC/ST Commission, ADGP Cyber Crime and the Superintendent of Police, Cyber Crime. Though he states so, no proof of submission of copies to the said authorities has been produced.

¶3On perusal of the representation, it is seen that the averments are vague, though he has named certain persons who have allegedly been spreading rumours as though there is a campaign in the Devendrakula Velalar Community seeking exclusion from the Scheduled Caste list, which, according to him, is affecting the educational and career prospects of persons belonging to the said community and he seeks appropriate action.

¶4The learned Additional Public Prosecutor submitted that no representation of the petitioner has been received by any of the persons named in the representation. He further submitted that the allegations are sweeping and bald, without any specific instance. He also submitted that if the petitioner submits any representation giving specific details along with proof, the same would be considered.

¶5The learned counsel for the petitioner, at this stage, submitted that he would give a representation with details, dates and particulars and also against the persons who are indulging in such false propaganda.

¶6Recording the same, this Writ Petition (Criminal) stands disposed of. Consequently, connected miscellaneous petition is closed. No costs.
