Case no.
WP 13711/2026

Judgment

ORDER The writ petition has been filed to issue a mandamus to the respondent to pay the Petitioner interest for the belated payment of his terminal benefits, Page2 of 4 namely P.F. Gratuity, Surrender Leave Salary and Earned Leave Salary at the rate of 18 % per annum, within a specified time frame as may be timed by this Court.

¶2The case of the petitioner is that he was appointed as Conductor in the respondent-Transport Corporation on 28.06.2000 and retired from service as Special Grade Conductor on attaining the age of superannuation on 31.05.2024. However, the terminal benefits have been settled to the petitioner only on

02.12.2025 and no interest has been paid for the delayed period. Therefore, the petitioner had submitted a representation to the respondent dated 02.02.2026, to pay the interest for the delayed period. Since the same was not considered, the present writ petition has been filed.

¶3The learned Standing Counsel for the first respondent would fairly submit that they are willing to pay the interest at the rate of 6% per annum for the belated payment of the eligible and admissible amount.

¶4Heard the learned counsel for both sides and perused the materials available on record.

¶5In view of the above submission of the learned Standing Counsel, this Court deems it appropriate to direct the respondent to pay interest at the rate Page3 of 4 of 6% per annum for the belated payment of admissible terminal benefits from the date of retirement till the date of actual disbursal of the terminal benefits of the petitioner, within a period of six weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.

¶6In the result, the writ petition is disposed of. No costs. 09-04-2026 Index: Yes/No Speaking/Non-speaking order TSG To Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation (Coimbatore) Ltd., Rep. by its Managing Director, No.37, Mettupalayam Road, Coimbatore - 641 043. Page4 of 4
