Judgment

Order The Writ Petition has been filed seeking to issue a writ of Mandamus directing the respondents herein to settle 6 percentage interest for the belated settlement of retirement benefits to 38 members of the petitioner-Association herein as per the list enclosed in this writ petition by considering their individual representation dated 19.3.2026.

¶2The case of the petitioner is that 38 members of the Petitioner-Association were appointed in the respondent-Transport Corporation and retired from service as Drivers, Conductors and Technical workers on various dates. The terminal benefits have been settled to the petitioners belatedly but no interest has been paid for the delayed period. Therefore, the members of the petitioner-Association had submitted a representation to the respondents dated

19.03.2026, requesting them to pay interest for the delayed period. Since the same were not considered, the present writ petition has been filed. Page3 of 5

¶3The learned Standing Counsel for the 1st respondent would fairly submit that they are willing to pay the interest at the rate of 6% per annum for the belated payment of the eligible and admissible amount.

¶4Heard the learned counsel for both sides and perused the materials available on record.

¶5In view of the above submission of the learned Standing Counsel, this Court deems it appropriate to direct the respondents to pay interest at the rate of 6% per annum for the belated payment of admissible terminal benefits from the date of retirement till the date of actual disbursal of the terminal benefits of the petitioners within a period of six weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.
