ORDER This criminal original petition has been filed to direct the Learned XV Additional Sessions Judge, City Civil Court, Chennai to receive the petition for extension of time and consequently extend the time limit for making the deposit of compensation.

2.It is seen that the petitioners are accused under Section 138 of the Negotiable Instruments Act and were convicted by the trial Court in STC.No.9688/2023. Against the conviction, appeal in Crl.A No.196 of 2026 preferred before the XV Additional Sessions Judge, Chennai. Pending the appeal, the petitioners filed a petition in M.P.No.1 of 2026 seeking suspension of sentence. The Sessions Judge, by order dated 13.02.2026 suspended the sentence in respect of the 2nd petitioner alone on the condition that the 2nd petitioner is to deposit 20% of the cheque amount of Rs.31,08,200/- within a period of 30 days.

3.The learned counsel for the petitioners submitted that the 2nd petitioner was unable to mobilise the fund immediately within the time granted by the trial Court. After a delay of 19 days, the 2nd petitioner mobilised the amount and produced the Demand Draft for a sum of Rs.6,21,640/- drawn on State Bank of India, Egmore branch, which was not accepted by the trial Court. ¶4The time for compliance of order passed by the trial Court dated
