O R D E R This Criminal Original Petition has been filed by the petitioner on
19.05.2026 under Section 483 of Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita
(BNSS), 2023 praying to grant bail.
¶2The petitioner/accused was arrested and remanded to judicial custody on 06.04.2026 for the alleged offences punishable under Sections 126(2), 296(b), 115(2), 324(2), 125, 311 and 351(3) of the Bharatiya Nayaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023, in connection with Crime No.80 of 2026 on the file of the respondent police.
¶3The case of the prosecution is that on 06.04.2026 at about 11.00 a.m., the petitioner threatened the de facto complainant with a knife, near Rangoon Street, Thousand Lights and forcibly took away a sum of Rs.1,250/- from the de facto complainant's pocket. Based on this, the present complaint was lodged and the same has been registered.
¶4Ms.S.Vedavalli, the learned counsel for the petitioner submits that the petitioner is an innocent person and he has not committed any offence as alleged by the prosecution. She further submits that the petitioner has been under the judicial custody since 06.04.2026 and he is ready to abide by any stringent conditions that may be imposed by this Court. Therefore, the learned counsel prays to grant bail to the petitioner.
¶5Per contra, Mr.L.Baskaran, learned Government Advocate (Criminal Side) appearing for the respondent-police submits that a sum of Rs.400/- was recovered from the petitioner and there are three previous cases of similar nature are pending against the petitioner.
