Judgment

ORDER This writ petition has been filed seeking a writ of mandamus directing the respondent to alter the revenue records in respect of the property bearing Dry R.S.No.17/6A Hec. 0.07.0 in Karamanikuppam Village, Cuddalore Taluk, Cuddalore District, to the petitioner's name.

¶2It is averred in the affidavit that though the petitioner's mother was the owner of the aforesaid property and she had patta and other authentic registered documents to prove her ownership, as per the revenue records, the aforesaid land stood in the name of a non-existent temple; hence, she filed O.S.No.73 of 2020 before the Principal District Munsif Court, Cuddalore, seeking a direction to alter all the revenue records in respect of the suit property in her name by arraying the respondent and three other officials as defendants; since pending suit, she breathed her last, the petitioner pursued the suit as her legal heir; though the said suit was decreed on 13.12.2023 directing the defendants to alter the revenue records in respect of the suit property in the name of the petitioner, the authorities did not act upon the said decree; hence, he submitted a representation dated 17.02.2025 seeking transfer of patta to his name as per the decree; yet, no action has been taken on the said representation; hence, this writ petition seeking the aforesaid relief.

¶3Mr. C. Prabakaran, learned Government Counsel, who accepts notice on behalf of the respondent, submitted that the petitioner's representation dated 17.02.2025 will be considered by the respondent within a period of six weeks.

¶4Heard the learned Government Counsel and perused the materials available on record.

¶5In view of the aforesaid submission made by the learned Government Counsel, this Court, without expressing any opinion on the merits of the case, directs the respondent to consider and pass appropriate orders on the petitioner's representation dated 17.02.2025, after issuing due notice to the petitioner and other aggrieved persons, if any, on its own merits and in accordance with law, within a period of six weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.
