Judgment

ORDER The petition has been filed seeking to direct the second respondent herein to consider the representation dated 28.02.2026 to regularize the services of the petitioners as Drivers with effect from 13.12.1995 as per the Resolution No.2984/95

dated

13.12.1995 of the Greater Chennai Corporation and the ratification order issued in G.O.Ms. No.67 Municipal Administration and Water Supplies (Ma.Na.3) Department dated 24.04.1998 and in the light of the Judgment in W.P.Nos.6227 of 2022 and 25450 of 2021 dated 19.03.2025 together with all consequential service and monetary benefits.

¶2Considering the limited prayer sought for in this writ petition, this writ petition is taken up for disposal at the admission stage with the consent of the learned counsel appearing on either side.

¶3It is the case of the petitioners that all the petitioners were appointed through Employment Exchange as Drivers in the year 1993 and their services have been regularised from the year 1998. The first respondent has passed a Page3 of 4 resolution in its General Body as early as 1995 to grant regularisation w.e.f.13.12.1995, however, till date the same has not been implemented. The third respondent has also sent a proposal as early as 18.09.2018. However, no orders have been passed. Therefore, the petitioners submitted representation dated 28.02.2026 to the respondents seeking to regularise their services with effect from 13.12.1995 and the same has not been considered. Hence, the petitioners are before this Court seeking the aforesaid relief.

¶4Heard the learned counsel on either side and perused the materials available on record.

¶5Considering the relief now sought for by the learned counsel for the petitioners, this Court, without going into the merits of the case, directs the second respondent to consider the petitioner's representation dated 28.02.2026, on merits and in accordance with law and to pass appropriate orders, within a period of eight weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.

¶6Accordingly, the writ petition is disposed of. No costs. Consequently, connected miscellaneous petition in W.M.P.No.23116 of 2026 is ordered as prayed for. 15-06-2026 Index: Yes/No Page4 of 4 rap
