¶4The brief facts which has culminated in the filing of these writ petitions are set out below: Page4 of 6

4.1. It is the case of the petitioners that they are retired employees of the respondent Corporation who joined service as "Conductor and Driver" respectively. The respondents settled the petitioners terminal benefits belatedly. Therefore, the respondents are legally bound to pay interest to the petitioners. Therefore, the petitioners made a representation dated 19.01.2026 to the respondents to pay the interest at the rate of 10% p.a., for the belated payment of the petitioners terminal benefits. Since there is no response, the petitioners are before this Court.

¶5Heard the learned Counsel on either side and perused the materials available on records.

¶6Admittedly, the terminal benefits has been paid belatedly for no fault of the petitioners. Therefore, the petitioners are entitled to interest on the same.

(a) Therefore, the Writ petition in W.P.No.21499 of 2026 is disposed of with a direction to the respondents to disburse 6% interest for belated payment of Provident Fund, Gratuity and Commutation from the date of retirement until realization within a period of one (1) month from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.
