Judgment
Order The Writ Petition has been filed seeking to issue a writ of Mandamus directing the respondents to pay interest of 12 percentage to the petitioners for belated payment of Gratuity, Dearness Allowance, Leave Salary, Provident Fund and commutation of pension amounts.
¶2The case of the petitioners is that they retired from the respondent-Corporation on 30.06.2025, 31.05.2025 and 30.06.2025 respectively after rendering continuous services for more than 25 to 30 years. The terminal benefits have been settled to the petitioner only on 11.03.2026 but no interest has been paid for the delayed period. Therefore, the petitioners had submitted Page3 of 5 representations to the respondents dated 24.042026 to 21.05.2026, requesting them to pay interest for the delayed period. Since the same was not considered, the present writ petition has been filed.
¶3The learned Standing Counsel for the respondents would fairly submit that they are willing to pay the interest at the rate of 6% per annum for the belated payment of the eligible and admissible amount.
¶4Heard the learned counsel for both sides and perused the materials available on record.
¶5In view of the above submission of the learned Standing Counsel, this Court deems it appropriate to direct the respondents to pay interest at the rate of 6% per annum for the belated payment of Gratuity, Dearness Allowance, Leave Salary, Provident Fund and commutation of pension amounts from the date of retirement till the date of actual disbursal of the terminal benefits to the petitioner within a period of six weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.
