Judgment

ORDER The present Writ Petition has been filed seeking the issuance of a Writ of Mandamus directing the respondents to pay the interest to the petitioner at the rate of 18% per annum for the delayed disbursal of his leave salary (85 months) Page2 of 4 within a time limit to be stipulated by this Court.

¶2It is the case of the petitioner that he joined the services of the respondent Corporation as a Shift Engineer and retired from service holding the post of Assistant Engineer 31.03.2019. After a delay of 85 months, the petitioner received a cheque dated 07.05.2026, for a sum of Rs.13,21,408/- towards encashment of leave salary. Therefore, the petitioner claimed interest at the rate of 18% on the delayed disbursal of leave salary and he has also made a representation dated 11.05.2026 to the respondents to pay interest for the delayed disbursal of leave salary, which has not been evoked any response so far. Hence, the petitioner is before this Court.

¶3The learned Standing Counsel for the respondent would fairly submit that they are willing to pay the interest at the rate of 6% per annum for the delayed disbursal of leave salary.

¶4Heard the learned counsels appearing on either side and perused the materials available on record.

¶5In view of the above submission of the learned Standing Counsel, this Court deems it appropriate to direct the respondents to pay interest at the rate of 6% per annum for the delayed disbursal of leave salary from the date of Page3 of 4 entitlement till the date of actual disbursement, within a period of eight (8) weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.

¶6Accordingly, this Writ Petition is disposed of. There shall be no order as to costs. 09-07-2026 Index: Yes/No Speaking/Non-speaking order UMA To
