ORDER This Writ Petition has been filed for the following reliefs: "directing the respondents to consider and dispose of the petitioners representation dated 06.02.2026 on merits and in accordance with law within a time frame as may be stipulated by this Honble Court." Brief Facts:-
2.The petitioner was appointed as Fireman in the Tamil Nadu Fire and Rescue Services Department pursuant to proceedings dated 14.05.2013 and has been serving with an unblemished record. During his service, he successfully completed the requisite departmental and driver training and was promoted as Fireman Driver by proceedings dated 27.02.2020.
¶3The petitioner would submit that under G.O.(Ms.) No.352 dated
14.05.2012 and the subsequent G.O.(Ms.) No.45 dated 01.02.2021, the Government prescribed promotional channels for Fire and Rescue Service personnel. The petitioner would further submit that his promotion as Fireman Driver placed him under Channel-II, thereby depriving him of the opportunity to be considered under Channel-I for promotion as Leading Fireman.
¶4Therefore, the petitioner had submitted a representation dated
06.02.2026 seeking conversion of his post from Channel-II to Channel-I in Page3 of 5 terms of the applicable Government Orders. However, the said representation has not been considered to date. Hence, the present Writ Petition.
¶5Heard the learned counsel on either side and perused the records.
¶6Considering the relief sought for by the petitioner and in the absence of any serious objection from the learned counsel appearing for the respondents, this Court, without going into the merits of the case, directs the respondents to consider the petitioner's representation dated 06.02.2026 and pass appropriate orders on merits and in accordance with law, within a period of eight (8) weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.
¶7Accordingly, the writ petition is disposed of. No costs. 08-07-2026 Index: Yes/No Speaking/Non-speaking order SHR Page4 of 5 P.T.ASHA J. SHR To
