Judgment

Order This Writ Petition has been filed to direct the respondents to consider petitioners representation dated 10.02.2026to deposit the awarded compensation amount passed in L.A.O.P.No.154 of 2003 by the learned Sub Ordinate Judge, Poonamallee, dated 12.03.2025.

¶2The learned counsel for the petitioner submitted that the petitioner's land, measuring an extent of 0.13.5 hectares in S.F. No. 139/1 situated in Varadharajapuram Village, Poonamallee Taluk, Thiruvallur District, was acquired by the first respondent for the formation of the Outer Ring Road connecting Vandalur and Minjur. Subsequently, a notice under Section 4(1) was issued, and the first respondent passed an award under Section 11 of the Land Acquisition Act, 1894.

¶3Dissatisfied with the quantum of the award, the petitioner preferred an appeal in L.A.O.P. No. 154/2003. This appeal was disposed of by an order dated 12.03.2025, which enhanced the compensation amount from Rs. 1,270/- to Rs. 48,646/-. The said order has become final, as no appeal was preferred against it. Page3 of 5

¶4However, the respondents have failed to take any steps to deposit the enhanced amount as directed by the reference court. Consequently, the petitioner submitted a representation dated 10.02.2026 requesting the respondents to release the payment. Since no effective steps have been taken by the respondents to deposit the awarded compensation amount, the petitioner has approached this Court.

¶5In reply, Ms.Inthu Karunakaran, learned Government Counsel who takes notice on behalf of the 1st respondent would submit that the petitioner's representation dated 10.02.2026 will be considered and appropriate orders will be passed for payment of enhanced compensation amount, within a period of four weeks.

¶6Heard the learned counsel for the petitioner and the learned Government Counsel for the respondents and also perused the materials available on record.

¶7In view of the above, this Court directs the 1st respondent to consider the petitioner's representation dated 10.02.2026 on its own merits and dispose of the same in accordance with law within a period of four weeks from the date of receipt of copy of this order. Page4 of 5
