¶1These Criminal Original Petitions are filed praying to quash the F.I.R. in Crime No.945 of 2018 and on the file of the Inspector of Police, M-5 Ennore Police Station, Chennai for alleged offences under Sections 147, 341, 294(b) 323 and 506 (1) of I.P.C. and the F.I.R. in Crime No. 939 of 2018 and on the file of the Inspector of Police, M-5 Ennore Police Station, Chennai for the alleged offences under Sections 147, 148, 294(b), 323 and 506(ii) of I.P.C. on the ground of compromise between the parties. The parties are present before the court and, on examination, stand by their compromise and do not want the cases to proceed further.
¶2The broad contours of the High Court's power to exercise extraordinary jurisdiction under Section 482 of the Cr.p.c. and Section 528 of the BNSS in Page6 of 7 respect of compromise of non-compoundable offences are laid down by the Hon'ble Supreme Court of India in Gian Singh -Vs-State of Punjab and Another (2012 10 SCC 303) and other subsequent judgments.
¶3The gist of facts leading to the instant cases are that there was a land dispute person, to which there was a quarrel between the parties leading to the offences and registration of the both the cases. Now the parties have ironed out their differences and the issue between them has been resolved.
¶4Thus, it can be seen that these matters are the fit cases for the exercise of extraordinary jurisdiction to quash the cases on compromise.
¶5Accordingly, these Crl.O.P. Nos.19760 and 19457 of 2026 stand allowed. The F.I.R. in Crime Nos. 945 and 939 of 2018 on the file of the Inspector of Police, M-5 Ennore Police Station, Chennai respectively stands quashed. 28-07-2026 RPP To
