ORDER This writ petition criminal has been filed for a direction, directing the respondents to protect / preserve and furnish a copy of the CCTV footages recorded at (1) UCO Bank, next to Govt Arts College, Race Course Road, Coimbatore 641 018, (2) CCTV beneath Avinashi Road Fly over Junction, (3) CCTV placed on Park Road stretching up to Dr.Nanjappa Road Junction Page3 of 5 (Roundabout), (4) Prakash Lodge, (behind Senthil Kumarn Theatre) Nehru Street, Ramnagar, Coimbatore – 641 009,(5) Prakash Lodge - Front Car Park and Reception CCTV and (6) Race course road CCTV in front of All Souls Church and Jockey Statue in the Roundabout, to the petitioner herein within a time frame as fixed by this Hon'ble Court.

¶2The learned counsel for the petitioner submits that on the date of enquiry, the petitioner is arrayed as an accused in Crime No.155 of 2025 registered for the offences punishable under Sections 8(c), 20(b) (ii)(B), 22(b), 22(c), 25, 29(1) of Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985 and Section 4(1)(a) of the Tamil Nadu Prohibition Act and Section 4(1)(C) of the Tamil Nadu Prohibition (Amendment) Act, 2024. In order to disprove the arrest of the petitioner, the petitioner raised a ground of alibi and sought for direction to produce the CCTV footages of the places stated in the prayer column. This Court, vide order dated 24.09.2025, directed the respondents 5 & 6 to preserve the CCTV footages if any available in the places stated in the prayer column and produce the same before this Court.

¶3On instructions, the learned counsel for the respondents 5 & 6 submitted that there is no CCTV footages available for more than a period of three months. The FIR was registered on 27.03.2025. Therefore, no CCTV footages available in other places as prayed by the petitioner herein, nearly for Page4 of 5 more than 1½ years. That apart the petitioner, who is an accused, in order to escape from the clutches of law, has sought for CCTV footages.
