O R D E R This Writ Petition has been filed seeking issuance of a Writ of Mandamus directing the respondents to consider the petitioner's representation dated 24.11.2025 and to make necessary entries in the revenue records, such as patta, chitta and adangal, in favour of the petitioner and the petitioner's family members, based on the second respondent's assignment patta transfer order dated 27.06.1992, in respect of the property comprised in S.R.No.208/8, now reclassified as S.R.Nos. 208/8A, 208/8B and 208/8C, situated at Arputhapuram Village, Thirumayam Taluk, Pudukkottai District.

¶3The grievance of the petitioner is that the subject property was in the long possession and enjoyment of the petitioner's father. The petitioner's father had been paying the necessary taxes and based on the same, the second respondent granted patta in favour of the petitioner's father vide assignment patta transfer order dated 27.06.1992. The subject property was fully fenced by the petitioner's father during his lifetime, and the same is still in existence.
¶4After the demise of the petitioner's father, the petitioner and his family members continued to be in possession and enjoyment of the said property. Upon verification of the revenue records, the petitioner came to know that the said land was wrongly mentioned as 'Anatheenam' instead of being recorded in the name of the petitioner's father and further, the patta was not uploaded in the online revenue records.
¶5Taking advantage of the same, the nearby villagers are attempting to encroach upon the subject property. Therefore, the petitioner submitted a representation dated 24.11.2025 seeking appropriate action. However, no action has been taken thereon so far. Hence, the petitioner has been constrained to file the present Writ Petition. Page No. 3 of 6
¶6The learned Additional Government Pleader appearing for the respondents would submit that the Commissioner of Land Administration is the competent authority to consider the petitioner's request; that instead of approaching the Commissioner of Land Administration, the petitioner has submitted the representation before the respondents; and that if the petitioner files a fresh application before the Commissioner of Land Administration, the same would be considered and appropriate orders would be passed on merits and in accordance with law.
¶7In view of the above, the Commissioner of Land Administration, O/o. the Commissioner of Land Administration, Land Administration Department, 2nd Floor, Ezhilagam, Chepauk, Chennai – 600 005, is suo motu impleaded as the third respondent. The petitioner is directed to submit a fresh representation to the third respondent. Upon receipt of the same, the third respondent shall consider the petitioner's representation and pass appropriate orders on merits and in accordance with law, as expeditiously as possible. The representation shall be disposed of after conducting an enquiry. The third respondent is also directed to provide a reasonable opportunity of hearing to the petitioner and any other Page No. 4 of 6 interested parties who may be affected by such decision, before passing any order.
¶8With the above directions, this Writ Petition is disposed of. There shall be no order as to costs. [K.SURENDER, J.]
