Judgment

O R D E R This Writ Petition has been filed seeking issuance of a Writ of Mandamus directing the third respondent to consider the petitioner's representation dated 04.10.2025 and to pass orders for automatic mutation of patta in the petitioner's name in respect of the land in Survey No.534/2, measuring an extent of 5 acres and 96 cents (2.41.0 hectares), situated at Thanakkarkulam Village, Radhapuram Taluk, Tirunelveli District, within such time as may be stipulated by this Court.

¶2With the consent of the parties, this Writ Petition is taken up for final disposal at the admission stage itself.

¶3The grievance of the petitioner is that the petitioner purchased the subject property vide a registered Sale Deed dated 08.02.2023. At the Page No. 2 of 6 time of registration of the said Sale Deed, the petitioner paid the requisite fee for automatic transfer of patta as per G.O.(Ms) No.84, Revenue and Disaster Management Department, Survey and Settlement Wing [SS-II(2)] Section, dated 04.02.2020. Despite the lapse of over two years, the revenue records have not been updated. Therefore, the petitioner submitted a representation dated 04.10.2025. Even thereafter, no action has been taken. Hence, the petitioner has been constrained to file the present Writ Petition.

¶4The learned Special Government Pleader appearing for the respondents, on instructions, would submit that the petitioner's representation dated 04.10.2025 and the payment for automatic transfer of patta would be considered and appropriate orders would be passed by the third respondent within a period of twelve weeks.

¶5Recording the above submission and without expressing any opinion on the merits of the matter, this Writ Petition is disposed of with a direction to the third respondent to consider the petitioner's representation dated 04.10.2025 and the payment for automatic transfer of patta and pass appropriate orders on its merits and in accordance with law within a Page No. 3 of 6 period of twelve weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. The representation shall be disposed of after conducting an enquiry. The third respondent is also directed to provide a reasonable opportunity of hearing to the petitioner and any other interested parties who may be affected by such decision, before passing any order. In the event of any rival claims, the parties are at liberty to pursue their remedies before the competent Civil Court. There shall be no order as to costs. [K.SURENDER, J.]
