Case no.
WP(MD) 11294/2023

Judgment

O R D E R Mr.D.Gandhirajan, learned Special Government Pleader takes notice for the respondents .

¶2By consent of both parties, this writ petition is taken up for final disposal at the stage of admission itself.

¶3Learned counsel for the petitioner would submit that the petitioner is the President of Athiyatchapuram Fishermen Co-operative Society. The grievance of the petitioner is that the members of the petitioner society are entitled for the benefit under the National Saving-cum-Relief Scheme (NFSRS), Fishing Ban Period Assistance and Lean period dole and the said benefits were not extended to the petitioner society. In order to avail the benefits, the petitioner society made a representation dated 17.02.2023 to the first respondent. Since the same was not considered, the petitioner is constrained to move the present writ petition.

¶4Though the petitioner seeks larger relief, at the time of arguments the learned Counsel appearing for the petitioner would submit that it would be suffice, if the representation of the petitioner dated 17.02.2023, is disposed of by the respondents, on merits, as expeditiously as possible.

¶5The learned Special Government Pleader appearing for the Respondents on instructions would submit that if reasonable time is granted to them, appropriate orders will be passed on the representation of the petitioner.

¶6In view of the above said submission and also considering the limited scope of the relief now sought for by the petitioner, this Court, without expressing any opinion on the merits of the petitioner's claim, directs the respondents to consider the representation of the petitioner dated 17.02.2023 and pass suitable orders thereon, on merits and in accordance with law, within a period of four weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.

¶7With the above observation, the writ petition is disposed of. No costs.
