Judgment
ORDER The present writ petition has been filed seeking direction to the respondent to pay the petitioner the admitted amount of Rs.95,833/- as VRS compensation, together with 10% interest p.a from 01.11.19 within a time frame as may be fixed by this Court.
¶2The petitioner was appointed as Driver in the respondent corporation on 20.04.1996. After completion of 24 years of service, while working as Special Grade Driver, he retired from service on 30.10.2019 under Voluntary Retirement Scheme. The respondent corporation settled the terminal benefits of the petitioner only after a delay of 3 years. The petitioner availed VRS scheme while he was still having more services for a period of 7 years and 8 months, for which, the respondent corporation calculated the compensation as Rs. 95,833/- and issued an order/calculation sheet, dated 20.12.2019. But even after a period of 4 years, they have not paid the same till this date. Hence, the petitioner made a representation seeking payment of the said amount on
21.02.2023. Since the same was not considered, this writ petition came to be filed.
¶3The learned Standing Counsel for the respondent fairly considered that the corporation would pay the said amount as provided by them in the calculation sheet, dated 20.12.2019 i.e., Rs.95,833/- with 6% interest from
20.12.2019.
¶4Heard the learned counsel on either side.
¶5In view of the submission made by the learned Standing Counsel for the respondent, this Court directs the respondent to pay the petitioner a sum of Rs.95,833/- along with 6% interest from 20.12.2019. The said exercise shall be completed within a period of twelve (12) weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.
¶6Accordingly, this Writ Petition stands disposed of. No costs.
