Ayyappan v. The Inspector of Police

ORDER This Criminal Original Petition has been filed to modify the condition to produce one surety of the petitioner's close relative, imposed by the learned Additional District Judge/Presiding Officer, Special Court under Essential Commodities Act, Thanjavur in Crl.M.P.No.2960 of 2023 dated 16.05.2023.

¶2Heard both side and perused the materials available on record including the order passed by the learned Sessions Judge (Vacation), Virudhunagar District.

¶3Taking into consideration the facts and circumstances of the case and that though the District Judge granted statutory bail to the petitioner, the petitioner could not produce the sureties, the condition imposed by the learned Additional District Judge/Presiding Officer, Special Court under Essential Commodities Act, Thanjavur in Crl M.P No.2960 of 2023 dated 16.05.2023 is modified to the effect that 'the petitioner/A1 is ordered to be released on bail on executing a bond for a sum of Rs.25,000/- along with two local sureties each for like sum to the satisfaction of this Court'. All other conditions imposed in the said order shall remain unaltered.
