ORDER This writ petition has been filed for a direction to the 4th respondent to dispose the petition filed by the petitioner in I.A.No.3 of 2026 and O.A.No. 05/2026 within the time limit as fixed by this Court.
¶2Heard the learned counsel for the petitioner, the learned Government Advocate for the respondents 1 to 4 and the learned counsel for the 5th respondent. By consent of both sides, the writ petition is taken up for final disposal at the stage of admission itself.
¶3The grievance of the petitioner is that their forefathers were receiving honours during the car festival and parivattam during the temple festival of Sri Swarnamoortheeswarar, Kumkuma Kaliamman Temple and the said temple is managed by the 5th respondent. Since the forefathers were getting honours and parivattam from time immemorial, the petitioner as descendent is entitled to get honours and as such, the petitioner was receiving honours. While so, the 6th respondent has filed writ petition without impleading the petitioner herein in WP(MD) Nos. 13236 and 13099 of 2024 and this Court disposed of those writ petitions by directing the 6th respondent therein to receive the first honour and distribute Vibhuthi to the devotees, where the temple car proceeds in the procession. However, the petitioner has filed an application in I.A.No.3 of 2026 in O.A.No. 05/2026 for providing honour during the car festival which is to be held on 29.05.2026. However, since the said petition has not been disposed of so far and it has been adjourned to 01.06.2026, the petitioner is before this Court with this writ petition.
¶4Considering the prayer that has been sought for by the petitioner, without expressing any opinion on the merits of the matter, the writ petition is disposed of by directing the 4th respondent to consider the petition of the petitioner filed in I.A.No.3 of 2026 in O.A.No. 05/2026 and pass orders on merits and in accordance with law, within a period of six months from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. No costs. Consequently connected Miscellaneous Petition is closed.
