Judgment

ORDER This Writ Petition has been filed seeking the issuance of a writ of Mandamus directing the respondents to forthwith unblock/de-freeze and permit the operation of the petitioner's Savings Bank Account No.1212101037347 maintained with the second respondent Bank, by considering the petitioner's representation dated 21.04.2026.

2.Heard Mr.N.Marimuthu, learned counsel for the petitioner, and Mr.V.Balasubramanian, learned Standing Counsel, who accepts notice on behalf of the respondents.

3.By consent of both parties, the Writ Petition is taken up for final disposal at the stage of admission itself.

4.The learned counsel for the petitioner submitted that the respondents have frozen the petitioner's salary account without issuing any notice and without disclosing the reasons. In this regard, the petitioner submitted a detailed representation dated 21.04.2026 to the respondents, requesting them to immediately unblock/de-freeze his salary account and permit him to operate the same. Despite receipt of the said representation, no orders have been passed by the respondents. Aggrieved by the inaction on the part of the respondents, the petitioner has approached this Court by filing the present Writ Petition.

5.The learned counsel for the petitioner further submitted that the petitioner would be satisfied if this Court issues a direction to the respondents to consider the petitioner's representation dated 21.04.2026 and pass appropriate orders thereon within a time frame to be fixed by this Court.

6.Considering the facts and circumstances of the case, and without expressing any opinion on the merits of the matter, this Writ Petition is disposed of with a direction to the respondents to consider the petitioner's representation dated 21.04.2026, after affording a reasonable opportunity of hearing to the petitioner and to any rival claimants, if any, and thereafter pass appropriate orders on merits and in accordance with law. Such exercise shall be completed as expeditiously as possible, preferably within a period of four (4) weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. No costs.
