Judgment
ORDER Heard both sides.
2.The petitioner had obtained two passports in the year 2000. The petitioner's passport expired in the year 2010 and it was renewed subsequently also. Only thereafter, the authorities came to know that the petitioner had obtained two passports and obtaining of the first passport has been suppressed. Hence, the impugned notice came to be issued.
3.A person cannot be allowed to hold two passports. The petitioner would claim that the first passport got lost and he obtained a fresh passport through a travel agent but there appears to have been some miscommunication.
4.Be that as it may, the petitioner has to necessarily lodge a complaint of loss of his first passport to obtain non traceable certificate from the jurisdictional police. As an when an application is filed, the jurisdictional police will conduct an enquiry and issue non traceable certificate. The petitioner can submit a fresh application for issuance of passport under the category of online generated loss document report. As and when such an application is filed, the same will be considered favourably by the respondent.
5.This writ petition is disposed of accordingly. No costs.
