ORDER This Writ Petition has been filed seeking the issuance of a Writ of Mandamus directing the first respondent to conduct an enquiry and issue patta in respect of the land comprised in Survey No.125/11, Veerapandi Village, Theni, measuring an extent of 1830 sq.ft., in the name of the petitioner, based on the representation submitted by the petitioner to the respondents dated 26.05.2026, within the time stipulated by this Court.
2.Originally, the land comprised in Survey No.125/11 was allotted to Pandian Roadways Corporation by the respondents pursuant to acquisition proceedings. Subsequently, Pandian Roadways Corporation divided the acquired land into housing plots and allotted them to various persons. One such plot, comprised in Survey No. 125/11, measuring an extent of 1830 sq.ft., was allotted to the petitioner. The petitioner submitted that, till date, no pattas have been issued to any of the allottees and that the respondents have failed to grant an individual patta in favour of the petitioner as well. Aggrieved by the same, the petitioner has filed the present Writ Petition.
3.On instructions, the learned Counsel for State appearing for the respondents submitted that the Revenue Divisional Officer (RDO) is the appropriate authority to consider the petitioner's claim.
4.Since the RDO is a necessary party, this Court, suo motu, impleads the Revenue Divisional Officer as the 4th respondent.
5.Accordingly, the petitioner is directed to submit a fresh representation to the Revenue Divisional Officer (4th respondent) within a period of one week from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. Upon receipt of the said representation, the fourth respondent shall consider the petitioner's claim and pass appropriate orders on merits and in accordance with law, after affording the petitioner an opportunity of hearing, within a period of two weeks thereafter.
¶6With the above directions, this Writ Petition is disposed of. There shall be no order as to costs.
