Judgment

ORDER (Order of the Court was made by A.D.JAGADISH CHANDIRA,J.) This Writ Petition has been filed for a direction to the respondents to provide proper and specialised medical treatment to the petitioner's son in a suitable Government Super Specialty Hospital and if such treatment is not available therein to permit treatment in a recognized private hospital at the cost of the petitioner's son with necessary security arrangements, by considering the petitioner's representation dated 18.06.2026.

¶2Heard the learned counsel for the petitioner and the learned Counsel for State of TN (Crl.Side) appearing for the respondents.

¶3The case of the petitioner is that her son is undergoing detention as a Goonda in Central Prison, Trichy. It is her further case that her son is suffering from old lacunar infarct (a type of stroke in the brain), hypertension, right hemisensory syndrome/left centrum semiovale infarct (a stroke affecting sensation on one side of the body), peripheral neuropathy, scabies and therewith he was taken to Government Hospital, Thanjavur, for treatment. Alleging that the treatment at the Government Hospital, Thanjavur, is not proper and she would seek treatment for son, in a higher medical centre or a private super specialty hospital. She sent a representation to the respondents on 18.06.2026 in this regard and since no action has been taken, the petitioner has come up with the instant Writ of Mandamus.

¶4When the matter was taken up for hearing today, the learned Counsel for State of TN (Crl.Side) appearing for the respondents would submit that the petitioner's son, who is currently detained as a Goonda in the Central Prison, Trichy, is suffering from a known case of systemic hypertension, old lacunar infarct with right hemisensory syndrome with autonomic neuropathy. He was given proper treatment in the prison hospital and as per their advice, he was referred to the Department of Neurology, Thanjavur Medical College Hospital and after receiving such treatment, he is currently found to be clinically stable. Hence, there is no requirement for giving any specialized treatment to him.

¶5Taking into consideration the facts and circumstances of this case and considering the medical certificate issued by the prison hospital and as well as also considering that the health condition of the petitioner's son is stable, this Writ Petition stands closed. No costs. (A.D.J.C.,J.,) (R.P.,J.,)
