WP(MD) 18500/2026

Judgment

O R D E R This Writ Petition has been filed seeking issuance of a Writ of Mandamus directing the first and second respondents to consider the petitioner's representation dated 25.06.2026 and consequently forbear them from granting an electricity service connection to the third respondent.

¶2Heard Mr. A. Azhageson, learned counsel appearing for the petitioner, and Mr. S. Deenadhayalan, learned Standing Counsel, who takes notice on behalf of respondent Nos.1 and 2.

¶3Since no adverse order is going to be passed against respondent Nos.3 to 7, notice to them is dispensed with.

¶4The learned counsel appearing for the petitioner submitted that the petitioner has submitted a representation dated 25.06.2026 to the first and second respondents requesting them not to grant an electricity service connection to the third respondent for the reasons stated therein. Since the said representation has not been considered till date, the petitioner has approached this Court by filing the present Writ Petition.

¶5The learned counsel for the petitioner further submitted that, without going into the merits of the petitioner's claim, it would suffice if this Court issues a direction to the first and second respondents to consider the petitioner's representation dated 25.06.2026 and pass appropriate orders within a time frame to be fixed by this Court.

¶6The learned Standing Counsel appearing for respondent Nos.1 and 2 has no serious objection to such a direction being issued.

¶7Considering the facts and circumstances of the case, and without expressing any opinion on the merits of the petitioner's claim, this Writ Petition is disposed of with a direction to the first and second respondents to consider the petitioner's representation dated 25.06.2026 and pass appropriate orders on merits and in accordance with law. Such exercise shall be completed as expeditiously as possible, preferably within a period of six (6) weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. There shall be no order as to costs.
