ORDER W.M.P(MD)No.14028 of 2026 filed seeking permission to file a single Writ Petition is ordered.
2.This Writ Petition has been filed seeking the issuance of a Writ of Mandamus directing the fifth respondent to provide an electricity service connection to the petitioners' house situated in Survey No.399/2A, at Rengasamypuram, Keelaiyur, Melur Taluk, Madurai District, based on the petitioners' representation dated 08.06.2026, within such time as may be fixed by this Court.
3.By consent of the learned counsel appearing on either side, the Writ Petition is taken up for final disposal at the stage of admission itself.
4.The learned counsel appearing for the petitioners submitted that though the petitioners submitted a representation dated 08.06.2026 to the competent authority seeking an electricity service connection, no orders have been passed thereon till date. Aggrieved by the inaction on the part of the respondents, the petitioners have filed the present Writ Petition.
5.The learned counsel for the petitioners further submitted that the petitioners would be satisfied if this Court issues a direction to the competent authority to consider the petitioners' representation dated
08.06.2026 and pass appropriate orders thereon within a time frame to be fixed by this Court.
6.Considering the facts and circumstances of the case, and without expressing any opinion on the merits of the petitioners' claim, this Writ Petition is disposed of with a direction to the competent authority to consider the petitioners' representation dated 08.06.2026, after affording an opportunity of hearing to the petitioners, as well as to any other interested or affected parties, if any, and thereafter pass appropriate orders on merits and in accordance with law. Such exercise shall be completed as expeditiously as possible, preferably within a period of six (6) weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. No costs.
