Judgment
O R D E R This Writ Petition has been filed seeking issuance of a Writ of Mandamus directing the first respondent to transfer the petitioner's daughter namely, M.Alagu Lily, who is studying IInd year B.E., (EEE) Degree course from third respondent college to fourth respondent college based on the petitioner's online application dated 14.05.2026 within the time limit.
¶2Heard the learned counsel for the parties.
¶3By consent of both parties, the Writ Petition is taken up for final disposal at the admission stage itself. Since no adverse order is going to be passed, notice to the respondents 1, 3 and 4 is dispensed with.
¶4The learned counsel appearing for the petitioner submitted that the petitioner's younger daughter, namely, M. Alagu Lily, is presently pursuing the II Year B.E. (Electrical and Electronics Engineering) Degree Course in the third respondent College. It is submitted that the petitioner's elder daughter is also pursuing a B.E. Degree Course at Tirunelveli and is a person with rheumatic orthopaedic disability, requiring constant assistance for her day-to-day activities and for commuting to her college. In view of the medical condition of the petitioner's elder daughter, the family is facing considerable hardship in providing the necessary care and support to both daughters, who are studying at different places. Therefore, the petitioner submitted an online application dated 14.05.2026 seeking transfer of his younger daughter from the third respondent College to the fourth respondent College at Tirunelveli. Since no orders have been passed on the said application till date, the petitioner has approached this Court by way of filing the present writ petition.
¶5The learned counsel further submitted that it would suffice if this Court issues a direction to the first respondent to consider the petitioner's application dated 14.05.2026 and pass appropriate orders thereon within a time frame to be fixed by this Court.
¶6Considering the above facts and circumstances of the case and without expressing any opinion on the merits of the matter, this Writ Petition is disposed of with a direction to the first respondent, to consider the application of the petitioner dated 14.05.2026 and pass appropriate orders on merits and in accordance with law. Such exercise shall be completed as expeditiously as possible, preferably within a period of six (6) weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. No costs.
