in Na.Ka.No.95/EDK-C/DGL/2023, on 19.08.2023 and for a consequential direction to the respondents Police to permit the petitioner to conduct Dharna in Kalimanthiyam Bus stand on 06.09.2023 from 11.00 a.m., to

02.00 p.m., in respect of the price increased in Kanvil seeds (Flame Lilly).

¶2The learned Government Advocate (criminal side) appearing for the official respondents submits that in principle, the Police have no objection granting permission to stage Dharna. However, the place where the petitioner's Sangam intends to perform the Dharna is a bus stand where in case if Dharna or protest is staged, it will cause inconvenience to the people and commuters.

¶3At this stage, the learned counsel appearing for the petitioner submits that they are prepared to identify the suitable alternative place.

¶4Considering the submissions of both sides, this Writ Petition is disposed of directing the petitioner to file a fresh application showing suitable alternative place, on which, the respondents Police are directed to dispose of the same as quickly as possible, keeping in view the fact that the programme is scheduled on 06.09.2023. There shall be no order as to costs.
