ORDER This Writ Petition has been filed seeking issuance of a Writ of Mandamus directing the respondents to issue a corrected Birth Certificate in respect of the petitioner's minor son, Sai Krithik, by substituting/incorporating the father's name as Narayana Krishnan with the initial 'N' in the Birth Certificate relating to the child, who was born on

02.11.2017 and whose birth has been registered under Registration No. 115/2017/N056/00709 dated 06.11.2017, within such time as may be fixed by this Court.

2.By consent of the learned counsel appearing for the petitioner and the learned standing counsel appearing for the respondents, the Writ Petition itself was taken up for final disposal at the stage of admission.

3.The learned counsel appearing for the petitioner submitted that the petitioner's minor son, Sai Krithik, was born on 02.11.2017 and his birth was duly registered with the respondents under Registration No. 115/2017/N056/00709 dated 06.11.2017. It is submitted that the father's name and initial have not been correctly reflected in the Birth Certificate. Therefore, the petitioner submitted a representation dated 02.07.2026 requesting the respondents to carry out the necessary correction by substituting/incorporating the father's name as Narayana Krishnan with the initial 'N' in the Birth Register and consequently issue a corrected Birth Certificate. Since no orders have been passed on the said representation, the petitioner has approached this Court by filing the present Writ Petition.

4.The learned counsel for the petitioner further submitted that the petitioner would be satisfied if this Court issues a direction to the competent authority to consider the petitioner's representation dated

02.07.2026 and pass appropriate orders thereon within a time frame to be fixed by this Court.

¶5Considering the facts and circumstances of the case, and having regard to the limited prayer sought for by the petitioner, without expressing any opinion on the merits of the petitioner's claim, this Writ Petition is disposed of with a direction to the competent authority to consider the petitioner's representation dated 02.07.2026, after affording an opportunity of hearing to the petitioner and to any other interested or affected parties, if any, and thereafter pass appropriate orders on merits and in accordance with law. Such exercise shall be completed as expeditiously as possible, preferably within a period of four (4) weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. There shall be no order as to costs.
