Judgment

ORDER W.M.P.Crl.(MD)No.982 of 2026 filed seeking to file a single Writ Petition is ordered.

¶2This writ petition has been filed seeking a direction to the 2nd respondent and his subordinates not to interfere in the civil dispute relating to petitioner's property situated in town survey ward no.21/1 (part), block no.1, town S.No.135/1, 135/7 and 135/14, measuring an extent of 1 Acre and 16 cents, situated at Veeramudaiyan Main Street, Madakulam Village, Madurai District, except by following due process of law, and consequently restrain them from interfering with the petitioner's peaceful possession and enjoyment of the said property or compelling them to remove the hut erected therein.

¶3The learned counsel appearing for the petitioners submitted that, in connection with a property dispute, the respondent police are unnecessarily summoning the petitioners, who are all women, to the police station frequently under the guise of conducting an enquiry and are thereby subjecting them to undue harassment.

¶4Per contra, the learned Government Advocate appearing for the respondent police submitted that the petitioners have not appeared before the respondent police for any such enquiry.

¶5Heard the learned counsel on either side and carefully perused the materials placed before this Court.

¶6It is made clear that the respondent police shall conclude the enquiry, based on the appearance already made by the petitioners, within a period of two weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. No further direction requiring the petitioners to appear before the respondent police station is warranted.

¶7With the above directions, this Writ Petition is disposed of.
