This Writ Petition is filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India seeking for a direction to the respondent police to grant the permission and protection for celebrating the festival in Arulmigu Sri Sabtha Kannimarkal Temple, Sathani Village, Panangadi Post, Kalaiyarkovil Taluk, Sivagangai on

29.09.2023 and 30.09.2023.

2.It is submitted by the learned counsel for the petitioner that the petitioner has no objection to conduct the festival along with all rival groups including the intervenor and to collect taxes/donations. It is submitted further that on

27.09.2023, they will convene a meeting with regard to collect taxes/donations from the rival parties and it is submitted that the festival is being proposed from

29.09.2023 onwards.

3.In view of the above, the petitioner and the rival parties are directed to conduct the festival jointly on 29.09.2023 and 30.09.2023 Sathani Village, Panangadi Post, Kalaiyarkovil Taluk, Sivagangai and the petitioner is directed to file a fresh application before the police, on which the respondent police are directed to grant the permission and provide protection for conducting the festival jointly by imposing the usual conditions. This Court expects that whenever these kind of festivals are being organized, all the parties concerned will sit and evolve the strategy, donate amount and conduct the festival jointly without any complaint and this Court also expects that the villagers shall not come to this Court in future and file petition like this. No costs.
